HUDSONVILLE, MI (WHTC) – The judge in the sex-trafficking case involving a Hudsonville man has not made a decision if the trial will proceed.
A preliminary hearing for 41-year-old Anuj Chopra took place Tuesday, April 18. Chopra is facing human trafficking charges for supposedly offering two 16-year-old boys one-thousand dollars each to have sex at a hotel while he recorded it on video.
If convicted, Chopra will have to pay 20-thousand dollars in fines and could spend a maximum of 20 years behind bars. His wife Leslie Chopra is also facing charges for sex crimes involving another teen boy.
Anuj Chopra is charged with the State of Michigan law violation of Human Trafficking for trying to entice two 16 year olds to engage in sexual activities for money.
42-year-old Leslie Chopra is charged with Distributing Sexually Explicit Materials to Minors and Using a Computer to Commit a Crime. The charges stem from her communications with a 16 year old, and attempting to entice him into sexual acts with her.
