FERRYSBURG, MI (WHTC) – A 54-year-old Ferrysburg man is in stable condition with head and leg injuries after crashing his vehicle into an unoccupied Ferrysburg Department of Publics Works (DPW) truck.
Ottawa County Deputies were dispatched around 9:42 p.m. to Van Wagoner and 174th Avenue Tuesday evening. Sgt. Matt Wilfong says Daniel Rop was driving a 2008 Ford F150 westbound on Van Wagoner which was closed at the time so that crews could repair a sewer line break.
Ferrysburg Department of Public Works has just arrived on the scene and were in the roadway opening manhole covers to find and repair the leak. A truck was parked in the roadway with an amber light activated on it’s roof, but Rop did not see that the road was closed and struck the truck.
Rop who was not wearing his seatbelt was transported to North Ottawa Community Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
