GEORGETOWN TWP, MI (WHTC) – A 21-year-old Hudsonville woman and her 16-year-old front seat passenger are listed in good condition after crashing their vehicle into a semi-tractor in Georgetown Township in the overnight hours on Tuesday, April 18.
Sgt. Matt Wilfong of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were dispatched to the scene at Chicago Drive and Port Sheldon around 12:33 a.m. Heather Dewey of Hudsonville was driving westbound on Chicago Drive when she failed to stop at the flashing yellow light at the intersection. Dewey then crashed into a semi driven by 24-year-old Rakan Aldisi of Burbank Illinois who had stopped at the red flashing light at the intersection. The semi tractor was not hauling a trailer.
Dewey suffered a leg injury and was pinned in the vehicle and had to be extricated by Georgetown Township Fire Rescue. Her front seat passenger Timothy Walter of Wayland was injured and transported along with Dewey to Spectrum Hospital. An infant strapped in a car seat who was a backseat passenger was not injured.
The semi driver was cited for failing to yield right of way.
