HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – After an extensive search, The City of Holland has a new Community & Neighborhood Services Director.
Holland native Mark Vanderploeg who was the city’s Community & Neighborhood Services Lead Coordinator and Senior Planner, will take on the role immediately. City Manager Ryan Cotten says Mark is able and willing to step up and lead the department as he truly believes in Holland’s future and potential.
As the Community & Neighborhood Services Director, Vanderploeg will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of the Department and its many functions including: Planning and Development, Construction Inspection Services, Zoning, Rental Housing Programs, Code Enforcement, Neighborhood and Home Improvement Programs, and Sustainability and Solid Waste Programs.
Vanderploeg has worked for the City of Holland for 22 years. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University, from there he went to Virginia Tech to earn his Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning. Mark and his wife, Sandy, have lived in Holland for most of their lives and have two children who attend Holland Public Schools.
