HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Payless Shoe Source are closing nearly 400 hundred stores, but only 10 in Michigan and not including its Holland location.
The shoe retailer, which is based in Kansas, has a total of 4,400 stores worldwide and has been struggling with sales recently. On Wednesday, April 5, the company said it had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and will close the stores that have been underperforming.
The 10 Michigan stores slated for closure include locations in Benton Harbor, Detroit, Big Rapids and Okemos. The store in North Park Plaza in Holland next to Walmart will remain open for the time being although more closings are a possibility for the retailer.
