SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC) – Three Lakeshore municipalities are exploring ways to improve first responder services together in their community.
Tonight, the Saugatuck City Council is expected to concur with Mayor Chris Peterson’s appointment of Jane Verplank and Ken Trester to a Joint Police Study Committee with neighboring Douglas and Saugatuck Township. Each entity will have two reps on the panel, with another member coming from the Police Commission, and the committee will be charged with making written recommendations by next June 30th regarding funding, structure and optimization of all emergency services in the area.
Peterson added that the committee will hold public hearings to get input on this matter.
