The City of Holland has created a new program to remedy the pesky leaf problem that plagues resident lawns every autumn.
Starting the weekend of October 1st, Holland City residents will be allowed to rake their leaves into street gutters or onto the shoulders of roads for pickup by City Crews. However, if there are branches, grass clippings, or any other lawn refuse in the leaf piles, the Holland Street Department will not pick them up.
Residents are reminded that the next curbside pickup of branches will not occur until the Spring Yard Clean-Up Program beginning in March of next year. Also, the City urges residents to be sure that their leaf piles are clear of any utility poles, mail boxes and other obstructions as the equipment used during the leaf-gathering process requires a certain amount of room to work.
This year’s leaf pickup program will continue through the weekend of November 19th.
