OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC) – The search is on for a suspect who robbed a West Olive convenience store at gunpoint overnight.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Eric Westveer, a man wearing a grey hoodie, blue sweat pants, a camouflage mask and gloves walked into the Exxon station off of 136th and Port Sheldon Street just before midnight. He brandished a gun, demanded and received an undisclosed amount of cash from the clerk on duty, and then fled on foot.
The clerk was shaken but unhurt, and despite an extensive search of the nearby area by deputies, augmented by canine units, the suspect was able to elude immediate capture. He was described only as being between 5-5 and 5-8 with a slender build.
Anyone with any information on the incident is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department or Silent Observer.
