GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC) – Two artists involved in the Final 20 in the ArtPrize 8 Public Vote are based along the Lakeshore.
Plainwell-based commerical illustrator Andrew Woodstock has a 16-foot-wide “Protect and Serve” entry at The Big Old Building in downtown Grand Rapids. The depiction of uniformed police officers on motorcycles is in watercolor, pencil and acrylic.
Aaron Zenz of Spring Lake had his six children helping him in painting faces on a thousand rocks in matching pairs. The author and illustrator of children’s books has placed half of his “Rock Around” exhibit at the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, with the other half scattered around the Calder City for visitors to find.
The 20 works were chosen by over 31 thousand visitors who cast more than 335 thousand votes. Balloting on the Final 20 Public Vote began on Sunday afternoon and ends at a minute before 12 Midnight on Thursday evening, with the Grand Prize winner of 200 thousand dollars announced on Friday.
