OTTAWA COUNTY, MI (WHTC) – The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office have identified seven cases of child pornography being distributed over the internet.
Captain Mark Bennett says over the last four months, the combined computer forensics team which is a team combined of the Sheriff’s Office and Detectives with the Holland Department of Public Safety, have made three arrests. Two cases are being considered with the Ottawa County Prosecutors Office and two other cases are under investigation.
Local detectives were provided with the information from the Crimes Against Children’s Task Force and The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Detectives from the Ottawa team were able to obtain search warrants and identify suspects.
The suspects are from Grand Haven, Spring Lake, Holland and West Olive. Charges have involved possession, manufacturing, and distributing child sexually abusive material that could result in a 20 year prison sentence.
