HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – With a Gale Warning and Wind Advisory along West Michigan’s lakeshore this weekend, Consumers Energy is ready.
Winds will be south to 30 knots and becoming northwest to 40-35 knots Saturday. On Lake Michigan the waves could build to over 13 feet by Saturday, November 19.
Roger C. Morgenstern is Senior Public Information Director For Consumer Energy and says it looks like winter is coming and customers need to be ready. With high winds and the possibility of a a couple inches of wet snow, it could have an effect on power lines could freeze.
“Make sure your electronic devices are charged and ready to go. Have a couple of days of drinking water,food and don’t forget about your pets. We remind people to stay away from downed power lines and with the winds we’re going to have some down. Stay 25 feet away from a downed power line and call 911 or Consumers Energy. Gas leaks are possible and remember a gas leak smells like rotten eggs. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.”
