ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC) – Allegan is among one of four recipients of a grant from the federal Historic Preservation Fund.
The cities of Allegan, Detroit, and Grand Rapids as well as Ann Arbor Township in Washtenaw County will receive a combined $122,022 to help renovate and preserve a historic part of the community.
Allegan plans to use the $45,644 awarded to them for the rehabilitation of the exterior masonry of the Griswold Memorial Auditorium.The auditorium was built in 1929 and is located at 401 Hubbard St. in Downtown Allegan.
The other Michigan cities that have been awarded the remaining Certified Local Government Grants have similar plans to renovate their own local historic districts.
