HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A Hope College leftfielder has proved to be one of the most productive hitters in the country this season.
Hope College Sports Information Director Alan Babbitt says that Ryan Konkle as earned NCAA Division III All-American recognition from D3Baseball.com for his play. Konkle who is from Marshall Michigan, helped the Flying Dutchman post a 25-19 overall record this season while setting single-season school records with 68 hits, 17 doubles and 59 RBI.
Not only is Konkle the Flying Dutchman’s first D3baseball All-American, he was named to the 2016 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association First Team. He ranks third all-time at Hope in batting average behind Jim Klunder’s 1988 mark of .471 and Jon Edmondsons’ 2003 average of .452.
This season marked the 23rd time a Hope College player finished the season as a .400 hitter with a minumum of 50 at-bats,
