HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – With over 1.2 million motorists on the roads this Memorial Day weekend, it should be easier to get around even though it will be the highest Michigan travel volume in 9 years.
Starting Friday May 27, at 3 p.m. until 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, MDOT is suspending work and lifting traffic restrictions whenever possible. MDOT advises drivers that although most operations will be suspended for the holiday weekend, drivers are advised that equipment and certain traffic configurations may remain in place.
Some work zones will remain active or have lane restrictions:
In Ottawa County, US-31 has two lanes open in each direction between Random Street and Lakewood Bouleard with a traffic shift. The southbound US-31 entrance and exit ramps to I-196 Business Loop are closed with a detour posted.
US-31 in Muskegon County has the southbound entrance and exit ramps at Pontaluna Road closed with a detour posted. The Pontaluna Road bridge over US-31 is closed as well.
MDOT provides up-to-date information on projects and you can also follow them on twitter.
