HOLLAND (WHTC) — Grand Haven resident Paul DeWeese, a former doctor and former state lawmaker, as entered a guilty plea in answer charges he fradulently billed Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan for $172,991, according to the Grand Rapids Press.
DeWeese, 60, was charged with making false medical insurance claims related to his Lansing-based clinic, which had branches in Grand Rapids and Flint. The FBI raided his Lansing clinic in 2015.
Paul DeWeese, 60, pleaded guilty Thursday (May 5, 2016) to felony charges in U.S. District Court in Grand Rapids.
DeWeese is a 1977 Hope College graduate who earned his medical degree from Wayne State University in 1981. His medical license has been revoked by the state. DeWeese served as a Republican state representative from 1999 to 2002.
