HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Imagine living in a cardboard box. Can you? Area teenagers want you to imagine just that and will experience it themselves this weekend.
Teens from St. Peters Catholic Church, San Filipe of Fennville and the Community Church of Douglas are holding the first even Box City Challenge. They will be spending the night in a box to raise money through pledges earned that will benefit Holland Rescue Mission and a mission trip for next Summer.
Christina Firmis of St. Peter’s Church says over 60 teens will be in the parking lot of Community Church of Douglas bonding and putting themselves in another’s shoes for a night. The event is supervised and a guest speaker from the Holland Rescue Mission will enlighten them about the realities of being homeless as well as ways to help the cause.
In addition to the challenge, a car wash will take place in the parking lot located at 6780 Wiley Road in Fennville. On Friday from 1-6 p.m. and Saturday 9-12 p.m. There is also a non-perishable food toiletries drive. You’ll have an opportunity to purchase bakes good and refreshments too.
