SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC) – Be on the lookout for Pirates as they look for able bodied crew to join them at the Venetian Festival in Saugatuck.
It starts Friday, July 29 with a party says Mayor Pro Tem Ken Trester. Why a Venetian Festival in Saugatuck? Trester says ” Saugatuck is a very water oriented community and like Venice Saugatuck has a great body of water that runs right through the community like Venice. We’re a very lively town and a lot of people think of us as a party town, so it’s very fitting we launch the festival with a party.”
At 5 p.m head to Coghlin Park for an 80’s Dance Invasion. There will be live bands, children’s games, a pirate costume contest with food and an open bar. Saturday enjoy the Art Fair in downtown Saugatuck and in the evening the lighted boat parade takes place on the Kalamazoo River followed by fireworks.
Hosting this family-friendly weekend is the Cowhill Yacht Club – The Little Club with a Big Heart. It is a silly name for a band of locals who have one common goal…To help the less fortunate in the Saugatuck/Douglas area communities. All proceeds will be used to help individuals and families who are in need with nowhere to turn. Click here to support this organization.
The festival runs July 29-31, 2016.
