LANSING, MI (WHTC) – The city of Holland and two Tulip City-based firms could walk away with honors for their innovations in energy efficiency.
The annual Governor’s Energy Excellent Awards Finalists list was released by the Governor’s office on Tuesday. The City of Holland is vying with Kent County Habitat for Humanity and the Muskegon County Department of Veterns Affairs for having the Best Communication or Education Program; GDW Farms faces the Miller Family Farm in Carney and Weiss Centennial Farms of Frankenmuth in the Best Projects – Agriculture category; and Venntis Technologies aims for Innovator of the Year with Dennis Schultz of Alpena’s Terra Caloric and John Slagter of the Mackinac Technology Company of Grand Rapids.
A total of 24 organizations and individuals are finalists for the eight awards that “recognize and extraordinary committment to reducing energy waste through innovative energy solutions,” according to a statement from the Governor’s Office. The winners will be announced at a invitation-only ceremony next month.
