UNDATED (WHTC) – The Chicago White Sox scored a pair of walk-off victories over the Detroit Tigers on Sunday in similar fashion. Adam Eaton’s single off of Justin Wilson plated the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Pale Hose a 4-3 triumph in the completion of a rain-suspended game from Saturday night. Melky Cabrera’s single off of Bruce Rondon plated the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Pale Hose a 5-4 triumph in the regularly scheduled game.
After those two defeats given up by the bullpen, one can’t fault Justin Verlander if he tries to pitch a complete game when the Tigers open up a three-game series in Boston against the Red Sox on Monday evening. Coverage with Dan Dickerson and Jim Price begins at 6:45 PM on 1450 WHTC.
The White Sox now begin a four-game Windy City Series with the Cubs on Monday night with the first of two at home in US Cellular Field. Miguel Gonzalez starts for the Good Guys in Black against Jake Arrieta for the North Siders.
The Cubs come into the Second City set off of a 6-5 victory at Milwaukee on Sunday. In the seventh inning, Anthony Rizzo tripled home three runs and then scored what proved to be the decisive tally on Ben Zobrist’s second RBI single of the game as Chicago scored five times in the frame.
