HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – As the city of Holland enters the America in Bloom Competition for the sixth year, professional judges will visit on Thursday July 21 and Friday July 22.
The America in Bloom competition unites the community, promotes civic pride and involvement, and provides a positive image for the community to aid in it’s economic development and tourism efforts. The city of Holland received national attention as the host community for the America in Bloom National Symposium which was held in September of 2015.
Every year different judges visit. This year Leslie Pittenger and Jack Clasen who are on the America in Bloom board will be visiting the Tulip City. The judges will be evaluating the community’s efforts in areas of overall impression, environmental efforts, heritage, landscaped areas, urban forestry, floral displays, and community involvement in the municipal, commercial and residential sectors.
Holland’s entry has received the top award in the Circle of Champions Mid-Sized Cities category last year and has received a 5-out-of-5-bloom rating, winning the top award in its population category during the first four years.
Holland was also awarded the YouTube video award in 2014. http://bit.ly/1PnLOab
