FENNVILLE, MI (WHTC) – A fire in Fennville yesterday morning caused heavy damage to an area home. At about 8 a.m., firefighters responded to a call that a house located at 2466 54th St. in Manlius Township was engulfed in flames.
The firefighters weren’t sure if there was anyone stuck inside the home as there were a number of vehicles in the driveway. A search of the premises found no one, but neighbors stated that the resident of the house did have dogs that may have been in the home.
The fire is thought to have started in one of the back bedrooms of the home, but escalated quickly because the amount of objects crammed into the home. Firefighters on scene reported that the inside of the house was a hoarding situation, according to WOOD TV.
After crews had extinguished the flames, it could be determined that the back portion of the house as well as part of the roof had serious damage. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
