RAVENNA, MI (WHTC) – A Ravenna family and community is reeling after a traffic crash yesterday morning killed a ten-year-old girl and injured her brother and sister.
Erika Kubasiak was not wearing a seat belt and died when her 18-year-old sister Emily lost control on an icy road while trying to pass another vehicle and crashed while on their way to school yesterday. They were traveling on Heights Ravenna Road in Sullivan Township.
Sixteen-year-old Peter Kubasiak was badly hurt and is in critical condition at Hackley Hospital in Muskegon. Emily is being treated there and in critical condition.
Funeral arrangements for Erika are on hold as the family waits to see if he recovers according to Father Fred Brucker of St. Catherine’s Parish.
The Ravenna School District, where the children are students, has brought in crisis management staff in order to provide support for the students and staff.
