HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A toy can make a difference in a child’s life this Christmas. You can make a difference by donating to the Salvation Army’s Toys for Tots program.
For the 69th year the Toys for Tots program has been activated by the Marines who are being deployed to fight the war on poverty in their own way.
Ret. Lieutenant General Pete Osman, President and Chief Executive Officer for the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation says every year there is always more need than there are toys to hand out, despite the generosity of the public. “We have about 5 million children that live at the poverty level and we do are darndest to collect as many toys as we can. Monetary donations are used to buy toys. It really is a great community action program.”
The only rule is that your donation either be a new unwrapped toy or cash.
The toys wind up being distributed through a number of local agencies. WHTC radio is a collection site and we’ll be collectiing toys through December 16 at our studios located at 87 Central Avenue in Holland. Go online for a list of other collection sites in Ottawa and Allegan Counties.
