ALLENDALE TWP, MI (WHTC) – The discovery of a vehicle engulfed in flames Sunday morning led deputies to a crime spree in Allendale and Talmadge Township.
Sgt. Brian Buter of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were dispatched at 6:26 a.m. Sunday morning, August 14, to the area of 10760 68th Avenue, which is a wooded area south of Allendale High School. Upon arrival deputies who were assisted by the Allendale Township Fire Department, found a 2004 Expedition fully engulfed in flames. The vehicle was a total loss.
Sheriff’s contacted the owner of the Expedition who said the vehicle has been stolen overnight in the 3200 block of Deer Run in Marne. During the investigation, the Sheriff’s office began to take several larcenies from motor vehicles and an attempted home invasion that centered in the 3300 of River Hills Drive which is a short distance from Deer Run. During those larcenies, several electronic devices and wallets were stolen.
At 10:40 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a second stolen auto report from 10727 64th Avenue after the homeowners found their 2004 Volvo stolen. This address is in close proximity to the original arson of the 2004 Expedition.
All the crimes have been determined to be related. The 2004 Volvo is described as a grey or silver 4-door sedan model F-60. It’s registration plate is BFF0826 and it is still listed as stolen.
