HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The single largest volunteer event in Ottawa County took place drew over 500 student volunteers..
The days of caring ran from April 18-22, with students from White Pines Middle School picked up trash and removed invasive species at local parks during Greater Ottawa County United Way’s fifth annual Junior Days of Caring.
Groups of students went out to the county parks each morning and gave their time. Support for the Junior Day of Caring student transportation was provided by a grant from the Friends of Ottawa County Parks.
On Friday, May 6, another group of middle school students from Lakeshore Middle School will volunteer at more than 25 local non-profit organizations and parks as their Jr. Day of Caring. They’ll do some spring cleaning and landscaping, give middle school tours and spend time with the elderly.
