HOLLAND (WHTC) — South Haven Emergency Services were called to two weather-related emergencies as storms ripped through Southwest Michigan Monday night, according to an email from Tom Renner, who wrote:
In one case, “a single-engine airplane was blown off the runway while attempting to land during the height of the storm at the South Haven Area Airport” at 9:38 p.m. No one was hurt.
“At 9:42 p.m. lightning struck a South Haven Township business, Lakeshore Appliances, at County Road 380 and Blue Star Highway,” Renner wrote. “Flames were showing when South Haven firefighters arrived on scene.”
Renner noted no one was injured during the fire and South Haven firefighters were aided by Bangor and Covert firefighters.
