CROCKERY TOWNSHIP, MI (WHTC) – A bus fire temporarily shut down part of I-96 in Crockery Township Saturday evening.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s department received a call at around 5:45 p.m. last night that a 1996 full size Carpenter bus had caught on fire at the 8 mile marker of eastbound I-96, near the Spring Lake exit. For 15 minutes deputies closed down a section of the highway so that the Crockery Township Fire Department could put out the blaze.
Only employees were on the bus at the start of the fire but they quickly evacuated before responding agents arrived at the scene. The bus was owned by Lakeshore transport and Limo LLC out of Muskegon.
