HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A special wish will come true for an Ottawa County child who is currently battling a life-threatening illness thanks to the Ottawa County Deputy Association and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
12-year old Joshua Rodriguez of Holland is a HUGE Detroit Lions fan. He’s also a brave young soul who is battling colon cancer. Joshua originally had two wishes: To go to Disneyland and also to meet the Detroit Lions. Make-A-Wish Michigan sent him to Disneyland. Now the Ottawa County Deputy Sheriff’s Association is going to help Joshua meet the Detroit Lions during the 2nd Annual Detroit Lions vs. Ottawa County All-Stars Basketball Game on Saturday, May 7th 7:30pm at Allendale High School.
According to the The Executive Board of the Ottawa County Deputy Sheriff’s Association, this year’s game will also allow the OCDSA to donate school supplies to needy children through the Ottawa County Intermediate School District. The OCDSA will also be donating to two other local charities that will be determined by game time on May 7.
The OCDSA continues to donate many free tickets to such organizations as Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lakeshore, The Boys and Girls Club of Holland, the Michigan Special Olympics and Shields of Hope-Ottawa County, just to name a few.
