HOLLAND (WHTC) — Saugatuck-Douglas is the latest West Michigan community to compete in a USA Today 10 Best Reader’s Choice poll.
Actually, it’s one of several Michigan towns vying in the national newspaper’s contests.
You’ll find Saugatuck Douglas entered in two categories, “Best Coastal Small Town In America” and “Best Weekend Getaway in the USA.”
Saugatuck is currently in fifth place for Best Coastal Small Town and in first place for Best Small Town Week-end Escape. People can vote once a day on each digital device — phone, tablet and computer — through midnight Monday, April 25th.
It’s not the only Michigan community in USA Today’s various polls.
Mackinaw Island is competing for best small historic town while Frankenmuth and Traverse City are in a sizzling race for best small-town food scene.
Frankenmuth is currently leading that pack.
The Alger Underwater Preserve in Munising, vying for best underwater attraction, stands at 12th out of 20 competitors. That contest ends at noon on April 11th.
