HOLLAND (WHTC) — Allegan County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating an armed robbery reported just before 9 a.m. Tuesday morning. The robbers allegedly killed two dogs in the home.
Gunmen forced their way into a home around 8:45 a.m. in the 4800 block of 118th Avenue in Clyde Twp., according to police in a statement emailed to media Wednesday afternoon.
The victim was home alone and told police the suspects were wearing dark clothing and dark hoodies, face masks and gloves. They were armed with knives, police said.
One suspect held the victim down while the other ransacked the home.
The victim’s two dogs, a German shepard and a black lab, attempted to protect the victim and were stabbed by one suspect, police said. One dog died at the scene, the other died after being rushed to a veterinarian’s office.
The victim wasn’t injuried during the robbery, police said, but one of the suspects may have injuries consistent with being scratched and bitten by a dog.
The suspects fled in a silver-colored smaller passenger car.
