SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – The search for a seven-month-old Holland boy considered to be endangered ended well on Friday evening, as the mother of Josiah Williams handed him over to South Haven Police unharmed.
He had been missing since last Friday, when 32-year-old Sarah Baird apparently took off with the child in an effort to avoid a custody order requested by the Ottawa County Child Protective Services. It was not disclosed as to the nature of the danger that Williams was in. Baird contacted authorities on Friday evening, saying that she and the child were at an unnamed fast food restaurant in South Haven and were waiting for police to arrive in order to surrender the child. Baird was taken into custody on a warrant for custodial interference in the matter.
Holland Public Safety was also looking for Baird’s boyfriend, 22-year-old Shawn Williams, when the first public notice of the missing child was issued on Thursday, but a Friday night press release made no mention of the elder Williams. The child is currently in Child Protective Services custody as the matter remains under investigation.
