WASHINGTON (WHTC) – Both of the Lakeshore’s Congressmen expressed regret over today’s resignation of US House Speaker John Boehner. Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton of St. Joseph “respected” the Ohio Republican’s decision and felt that Boehner “put our country first” in stepping down. Zeeland’s Bill Huizenga was more expressive, saying that it was “hard to find a person in Washington who cared more for the future of America’s children than Speaker Boehner,” and added that, “In our conference’s search for the next Speaker, we need to select a leader who can clearly and forcefully communicate our conservative principles to the American people.”
