WEST OLIVE, MI (WHTC) – The concept of building up technology-based businesses in the agricultural industry is apparently taking off.
Less than a year after the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners gave its financial blessing, the Great Lakes Ag-Tech Business Incubator has received more than 75 thousand dollars in cash contribution from public and private sector sponsors, signed client agreements with four companies, and gained the support of both Allegan and Barry counties in this startup services initiative. In an interview with WHTC News, Incubator Executive Director Mark Knudsen said that he was pleased but not surprised.
Over the next 12 months, the Incubator expects to enroll at least another five clients, with the hope of getting two to four additional counties to join in by the end of 2017.
