ZEELAND, MI (WHTC) – A longtime art teacher at Zeeland East has died.
Marnie Assink, 44 died of natural causes Saturday morning. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, a son and daughter-in-law and her parents. Counselors are scheduled to be on hand at the high school today.
She graduated from Plymouth Canton High School in 1989, Eastern Michigan University in 1994 and she earned her Master’s degree from GVSU. Marnie was a high school art teacher in Zeeland Public Schools and an adjunct instructor at Kendall College of Art and Design.
Marnie and Dan were members of Fellowship Reformed Church in Holland.
Visitation will be 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 East 16th Street, Holland, MI 49423. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Community Reformed Church, 10376 Felch Street, Zeeland, MI 49464.
The Reverends Brian Keepers and Marijke Strong will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Community Foundation of the Holland/Zeeland Area in Marnie’s name where a scholarship will be established for art students in Zeeland Public Schools. www.langelandsterenberg.com
