HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A Grand Haven man was airlifted to Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids after a 1-car crash in Grand Haven Township yesterday.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to a crash yesterday morning on Comstock Street east of 160th Avenue. Upon arrival deputies found Donald Shalifoe, 32 of Grand Haven pinned inside the drivers seat with head and lower extremities injuries.
Firefighters from Grand Haven rescue used the jaws of life to free Shalifoe from the wreckage of his 1994 Chevy minivan. According to Sgt. Bob Ruster of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, witnesses reported that the minivan had been traveling the speed limit, but then had slowly veered across the center line and continued to cross the westbound lane. The vehicle then crossed the westbound shoulder of the road and struck a tree.
Shalifoe was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. His condition and the cause of the crash are unknown at this time and the sheriff’s said the incident is still under investigation.
