GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – The criminal proceedings against a 52-year-old Kent County woman in the 2007 death of Janna Kelly will be held in Grand Rapids.
Robin Root was apprehended and arraigned three weeks ago on open murder charges, as detectives claimed that she admitted killing the 60-year-old realtor in a landlord-tenant dispute and dumping her body in a field south of Grand Haven three months after Kelly was reported missing. A review of the case and state law led Ottawa County Prosecutor Ron Frantz to move the matter over to his Kent County colleague William Forsyth’s office.
Root will be moved from the Ottawa County Jail, where she was being held since her arrest, to the Kent County lockup.
