HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – It’s as if the weather is cooperating with Tulip Time Festival officials, for today’s rain comes after two warm, sunny days that brought banner crowds to the Volksparade and the Kinderparade through downtown Holland. The annual signature event’s luck may be running out though, as showers and some rumbles of thunder are predicted for tomorrow’s concluding Muziekparade.
Organizers of last night’s attempt at Centennial Park to break the world record for people dancing simultaneously in wooden shoes say that they may try again. The benefit fundraiser for Bethany Christian Services fell short by nearly a thousand people with an official count of 1486. Holland’s Dutch heritage arch-enemy, Pella, Iowa, holds the mark at 2604.
Comedian Bob Newhart headlines this evening’s attractions as he performs at Central Wesleyan Auditorium. Other activities include Dutch Dancing at the Civic Center and Centennial Park and Holland High’s production of the musical comedy Little Shop of Horrors.
