HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Ottawa County’s Macatawa Greenway will see a new trail open tonight from 4-7 p.m. with a dedication ceremony.
The $1.8 million project features nearly 3 miles of paved trail that travels through the park’s forests, grassland, and wetlands, including a bridge over the Macatawa River. The West MI Trails & Greenway Coalition provided a $20,000 grant through the Zeeland Community Foundation that helped fund drinking fountains, lighting, and parking for the trailhead.
In addition to the new trail, a technically challenging bike trail built by volunteers from the Michigan Edge Mountain Bike Association loops through the park’s scenic ravines.
Visitors are invited to walk the new trail or go on wheels with bikes provided by VeloCity Cycles and Cross Country Cycle, who will be at the event.
The Friends of Ottawa County Parks and The Village Baker will provide complimentary refreshments.
