SPRING LAKE, MI (WHTC) – Lake Michigan is on the rise and rebounding quickly from historically low water levels just a few years ago.
The village of Spring Lake is blaming the rising water levels for causing a lot of damage to infrastructure, and it’s going to cost about 100-thousand dollars to make repairs according to Public Works Director Roger Belknap.
A sea wall in Mill Point Park as well as broken sidewalks and reversing erosion damage to the underground storm water system are just some of the repairs.
Lake Michigan is six inches higher than average and ten inches higher than this time last year.
While Spring Lake is having problems, officials across the Grand River in Grand Haven say they’ve seen beach erosion but have had no infrastructure issues.
