HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Greater Ottawa County United Way is hosting its third annual Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive starting Monday, July 27 through Friday August 7. Donations for school supplies and backpacks can be dropped off at an Fifth Third Bank location in Ottawa County or at the Loutit Library in Grand Haven.
Backpacks, crayons, folders, pencils, glue sticks, binders, notebooks and everything in between is needed. Even sample size toothpaste and toothbrushes.
During the first week of September, Stuff the Bus backpacks full of school supplies will be distributed to local kids in need. Students can pick up a backpack in Grand Haven on Wednesday, September 2 from 4:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. at The Salvation Army located at 310 N. Despelder St. For Grand Haven pick-up, students need to be pre-registered to receive a backpack, Pre-registration takes place at The Grand Haven Salvation Army between July 27 and August 14 during office hours. Please bring ID (birth certificate or social security card.)
Students is Holland can get their backpacks on Thursday September 3 from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. at The Salvation Army located at 104 Clover Street. Please make an appointment at The Salvation Army from July 29 – August 7. Please bring a photo ID, social security card, social security numbers for all household members, and proof of income. Call the Salvation Army at (616) 392-4461 to set up your appointment.
Last fall, the community donated more than $25,000 worth of school supplies during the Stuff the Bus drive.
Stuff the Bus is a collaboration of Greater Ottawa County United Way, The Salvation Army and Grand Haven Area Public Schools. Event sponsors are Fifth Third Bank, Huntington Bank, and Two Men and a Truck.
