GEORGETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC) – A 36-year-old Hudsonville man spent Saturday night on a Spectrum-Zeeland Community Hospital bed, apparently through no fault of his own.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Matt Wildfong, Toby Curry was driving eastbound on Port Sheldon Street north of his hometown around 10:30 PM when his vehicle collided with the northbound vehicle of 89-year-old Rhyne Lubbers, also of Hudsonville, that was bearing down at full speed along 48th Avenue. The force of the collision drove the Curry vehicle into a nearby fire hydrant, and an eyewitness told deputies that Lubbers drove through a red light into the intersection.
Curry was hospitalized with minor arm injuries; Lubbers was not hurt. The crash remains under investigation.
