UNDATED (WHTC) – Jordan Brink scored 29 points as visiting Calvin defeated Hope in men’s basketball on Saturday, 88-64. The Flying Dutchmen host Albion on Wednesday, with broadcast time on 92.7 The Van at 7:10 PM.
Hope managed a basketball split at DeVos Fieldhouse on Saturday night, as the women downed visiting Kalamazoo, 73-64, behind 18 points from Mandy Traversa. The Flying Dutch travel to Olivet on Wednesday evening.
Grand Valley State split a basketball doubleheader with visiting Malone on Saturday. In the opener, Kayla Dawson’s 20 points helped the GVSU women win, 85-60. The men lost the nightcap, 81-61, as Ben Haraway tossed in 24 for the visiting Pioneers. The Lakers are in Marquette for another twin-bill against Northern Michigan next Thursday night.
In state major college basketball on Saturday: Michigan beat visiting Minnesota, 62-57; Western Michigan topped visiting Buffalo, 78-68; Central Michigan fell at Ball State, 83-65; Eastern Michigan lost in overtime at Miami of Ohio, 82-81; and Detroit handled visiting Oakland, 74-54. Sunday afternoon action finds Michigan State hosting Northwestern.

In basketball doubleheaders on Saturday that had been postponed by weather on Friday evening: West Ottawa High swept a pair of games from visiting Grandville by scores of 48-45 for the boys and 48-44 for the girls; Holland Christian split a pair of games at Hamilton, with the Maroons winning the boys’ contest, 61-54, but the host Hawkeyes taking the girls’ match, 50-30.
