HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – In what has been a wintry week of weather along the Lakeshore, the worst apparently has been saved for last.
Another one to four inches of snow is predicted before a Winter Storm Warning for Allegan and Ottawa counties expires at 4 PM, with totals of between eight and 12 inches in a 30-hour span. Some areas could see a foot and a half of fresh powder stemming from this surge of Arctic air coming across Lake Michigan.
It’s the second straight “Snow Day” for K-12 students in Holland/Zeeland area schools, with some districts such as South Haven having to extend the Christmas Break for an entire week this week due to steady inclement weather conditions. This storm has also affected larger institutions such as Hope College and Grand Valley State University, who cancelled classes today.
Forecasters say that there will be a break from the snow-making machine with some moderating temperatures over the weekend.
