NUNICA, MI (WHTC) – Two people were pronounced dead and four people injured after a head-on collision Saturday night in Nunica. 31-year-old Kori Kozak of Saginaw and 13-year-old Nicholas Weber Maldonado of Wyoming were killed when Kozak drove her vehicle over the center line near 11438 Apple Drive in Crockery Township at approximately 6:50pm. Kovak’s vehicle then struck another vehicle in a head-on collision. The second vehicle was driven by Kathy Vollmer, 56, of Spring Lake. Kozak and Maldonado were killed upon impact but a third passenger, 11-year-old Abbey Phillips of Saginaw, was critically injured and taken to Spectrum Hospital. In Vollmer’s vehicle, three out of the four occupants were injured in the crash, including a 4-year-old girl who is listed in good condition at Spectrum. All drivers and passengers who were involved in the accident were wearing a seatbelt, except for Kovak. The incident is still being investigated by police.
