High School Football Tonight; Tigers & Caps Win, but Lakers Fall

UNDATED (WHTC) - The second slate of games for the 2014 high school football season along the Lakeshore will be played this evening. At 6:40 PM, hear the Zeeland East-Zeeland West contest on 1450 WHTC and WHTC.com, or the Marcellus at Saugatuck match up on 92.7 The Van and 927thevan.com. Other encounters include Spring Lake versus Holland at Ray & Sue Smith Stadium, Holland Christian at Adrian, West Ottawa at Grand Ledge, Hamilton hosting Coopersville, and Fennville home to Decatur.

Victor Martinez’ three-run homer highlighted a seven-run 11th inning for the Tigers, who won in Cleveland last night, 11-4. Detroit hosts San Francisco at Comerica Park this evening.

This afternoon, the Cubs are home to Pittsburgh at Wrigley Field, while the White Sox travel to Cleveland tonight.

Bennett Pickar’s sacrifice fly in the seventh inning plated the tie-breaking run as the Whitecaps held off visiting Fort Wayne in Midwest League playoff action last night, 2-1.
