Ferrysburg Man Survives Fall, Arm Puncture

Sgt. Matt Wildfong of Ottawa... (Download MP3)

FERRYSBURG, MI (WHTC) - A 24-year-old Ferrysburg man survived a fall last night that was harrowing in more ways than one.

Ottawa County Sheriff's Sergeant Matt Wildfong and fellow deputies were dispatched to a home off of Third Street west of US-31 around 6:45 PM. They found Charles Hatcher on the ground with a splinter from a neaby privacy fence in his arm. He apparently fell 15 feet from the roof of his house, with the arm striking the fence on the way down. Hatcher was alert when first responders arrived, and it appeared that there wasn't much blood coming from the wound. He was taken to North Ottawa Community Hospital for treatment.

Wildfong didn't give other details as to the circumstances that led to the fall as the incident remains under investigation.
