FERRYSBURG, MI (WHTC) - For the second time in 48 hours, a motorist snapped a utility pole in the Tri-Cities.
Last night around 8 PM, Sheriff’s Deputies were called to West Spring Lake Road near Grand River Avenue in Ferrysburg, where they found a downed power line crossing the roadway, courtesy of a sheared pole caused by an 44-year-old man who apparently was speeding eastbound, failed to negotiate a curve, lost control and veered to the left. The driver wasn’t hurt, but he spent the night in the Ottawa County Jail, awaiting arraignment in Grand Haven District Court on undisclosed charges. Board of Light and Power crews closed the roadway for a couple of hours while repairs were made.
On Saturday evening, the Mercury Drive bridge over Millhouse Bayou southeast of Grand Haven was shut down for seven hours after a 17-year-old Grand Haven man knocked down a pole with his SUV.
