UNDATED (WHTC) - The traditional end of the summer vacation season will see traditional events across the state.
While Vice President Joe Biden speaks before Detroit’s Labor Day parade at the site of Tiger Stadium, and Governor Snyder leads the Mackinac Bridge Walk from St. Ignace to Mackinac City, the eighth annual Labor Day Truck Parade that spotlights the achievements of the Lakeshore economy rolls from Zeeland to Holland, concluding with an ice cream social outside of the Holland Civic Center. The Paw Paw Bridge Walk, a 35-yard saunter in Zeeland that is a tounge-in-cheek salute to the Big Mac Walk, takes place following the Truck Parade that starts at 9:15 AM, and Grand Haven holds its walk across the THird Street Bridge at 9 AM.
Most road projects are also on holiday, although barricades are still in place for the I-196 rebuilding from Ottogan Street to US-31 in Holland, and along M-45 at 120th Avenue in Robinson Township. Classes resume for public school students tomorrow; Holland Christian and Black River Public School began their academic year last week.
