FENNVILLE, MI (WHTC) -- A blood drive this weekend will honor a star athlete from Fennville who died of sudden cardiac arrest. Wes Leonard of Fennville sank a last-minute basket that enabled Fennville to win the game and complete an unbeaten campaign on March 3rd, 2011. A few moments later, Leonard collapsed and died. A defibrillator was 50 feet from the gymnasium but it did not have a working battery. An AED will be presented to Woodside Elementary School in Holland in memory of Leonard. The blood drive takes place at Fennville Middle School this Saturday from 9 A.M. until 3:45 P.M.
