Poll shows support for minimum wage increase in Michigan

LANSING, MI (WTVB) - Michigan voters seem to favor a minimum wage increase.  A poll conducted by the "Detroit Free Press" shows an effort to raise the minimum wage from its current level of $7.40 per hour has widespread support from Michigan voters.

A proposed ballot initiative to raise the minimum wage to $10.10 per hour by 2017 and $10.10 per hour for tipped workers by 2023, received support from roughly 56% of those surveyed by EPIC-MRA of Lansing.  Members of the Raise Michigan coalition, which is spearheading a petition drive to get the measure on the ballot, reportedly plan to turn over signatures to the Secretary of State tomorrow.
